Footie First Ladies Win MDFA Women’s League

What began three years ago with a small group of 12 girls at Footie First has now evolved into one of Mumbai’s leading football coaching program for girls. Today, over 150 girls from ages as young as 4 years are part of the Footie First Girls Football Program.

The objective of the Footie First Girls & Ladies Football Program is multifold:

1. We want girls to train with female coaches as much as possible in conditions that are safe and conducive for their development.

2. We want girls to know they have the option of fearlessly expressing their talent, skill and aggression on a sports field with confidence.

3. We want to give gifted girl footballers pathways to progress within our system.

4. We want the best girl footballers to fulfil their potential as world-beaters.

While some girls are from our pay-to-train program, over 90% of the girls train for free at Footie First by virtue of our Social Responsibility Program.

All the time and effort that we have invested into our Girls & Ladies Program finally bore fruit this season with our Footie First Ladies team winning the Mumbai Women’s League organised by the Mumbai Football Association (MFA – formerly MDFA).

Even though it was our first season competing at this level, our Footie First Ladies team, under the guidance of Coach Nidhi, went unbeaten before lifting the winner’s trophy.

It’s a historic achievement for our club and we hope it will inspire hundreds and thousands of girls in Mumbai and India to begin their love affair with the beautiful game!
